Teaching Independence

It wasn't too long ago that we started realizing that Kent was capable of a lot more then we were giving him credit for, so we put him to work.

Vacuuming up his crumbs.

Stirring his own mac 'n cheese.

Using a Magic Eraser to remove his first, and hopefully last, drawing on the wall.

Trip to Washington - Back in February

Back in February, the kids and I took a trip out to Washington for almost two weeks.  Ammon was scheduled to go to New Mexico again for work, so we thought we would escape being home alone.  We had a great time hanging out with family.  I think I made Rachel, Cade, and McCall hang out with us every day.  Here is a picture diary of what we did:

Grandma tried her darnedest to potty train Kent (he is potty trained now).

Pretty much the cutest group of cousins there is.

Glowsticks in the tub.

Best of friends.

Hide and seek in the box.

We even got to attend a WSU basketball game...Go Cougs!

I bought the boys a big thing of popcorn, look how happy Cade looks.

Grandpa gave up his court-side seats to sit by us...DURING HALFTIME!

The whole crew.

We played in the snow. This is one of my favorite pictures of Kent and Wiley.

Kent didn't like the snow fight he and Cade had.

A trip of Grandpa's new toy.

We colored the snow on grandma's deck, and the house (Thanks Rachel for cleaning it off).

Kent also got a little color.

The girls just spent time inside.

The boys played their first game of air hockey; Cade creamed Kent!

This is what our mornings looked like.  It was nice to have the Disney channel again.

We visited the grandparents at work.

Random Addy

I used to love sticking my little brother Lance in small spaces, it seems I get a kick out of doing it to my kids too.

Often Addy can be found with both her hands and her feet in her mouth at the same time.

One nap time I had to sacrifice sleep to finish an article I was writing for KSL, as you can see Addy didn't want me to forget she was still there.  She slept with her foot on my computer screen for an hour.

Thankful for...

Every night we pray with Kent. Most of the time he just makes us laugh. He normally has a running list of things he is thankful for; his puppies, blankies, Mom, Dad, Addy. Lately he adds in the funniest things most notably he is thankful that "Mickey Mouse is happy" and that "Addy doesn't want to sleep with me" (We have tried to have them share the room for the last few night and it hasn't worked. Obviously Kent is happy about it. )

Lowe's Build and Grow

Two Saturdays a month Lowe's holds what they call a build and grow clinic. Basically they provide, for free, parts and instructions for kids to build something. These things range from race cars, to castles, to valentine's boxes, etc. One Saturday we were able to take Kent. They gave him an apron and goggles, he looked so cute. He always wants to help us hammer nails in the wall when we are hanging pictures, so this was perfect for him. They even had child sized hammers. Because there is so many kids here in Utah, and they only have 50 spots per Saturday, we have since to go back. If you are not online right when they open registration on Mondays you are out of luck. Maybe one day we can take him back.

Dad was in charge of construction.

Mom was in charge of adding decals.

Kent took credit for it all.

Funny Things

Recently Kent has been saying really funny things, and just for the sake of remembering, I wanted to record them here.

  1. This morning Kent jumped into bed with us at about 5:30. Normally I hear him laugh in his sleep, but this morning was the first time he really talked, at least coherently. He said, "Mom, you need a time out."
  2. During prayers last night Kent said he was thankful for the "wind in Washington".
  3. This week I said to Kent, "Mom needs a shower, she's stinky." To which he replied, "You got poop in your bum Mom?"

Lily

When we first moved here, Kent's first friend was named Lily. We would play with her almost every afternoon in the empty parking lot at our apartment complex. They would gather rocks and dump them in the storm drains (we didn't have a whole lot for them to do around our place). Her family has since moved into Ogden near Weber State, so we only see them about once a month, but when these two get together they enjoy every second and are inseparable.

Hiding in the cupboard at Lily's new house.

Dancing with Lily. In the background we were watching video of when we went camping with them.

At the park yesterday. It was impossible to get these two to stand still, this is the best we could do.

Playing drums while singing, "Everybody wants to be a cat."
